There's some muttering about fitting sprints into weekends.
At the PT this year the sprint race was after the main race on Saturday evening. At UK cup final 2008 it was on Saturday morning. At UK cup final 2007 it was Friday night.

Re: Sprint relay/race
Aside from it being one of the main events (my preference), the positioning so much depends on circumstances. All other things equal, my preference would be for Fri evening, but there are oh so many weekends when it's just not possible to get to the event in time. Having said that, depending on what else is being offered, I might well prioritise the sprint over a so-called 'main' event anyway!

Re: Sprint relay/race
I think a perfect weekend format is:
Saturday midday (to allow people to get there) Middle
Saturday evening Sprint
Sunday Long
Well worth travelling some distance for that.
Next best is Shamrock style with Friday evening, but it requires people to take time off. In this case a sprint on Friday evening to set things off is good.
In March Moravian are having a town race (not a sprint) on the Sunday morning partly because there are fewer vandals and general public about. Saturday is at Culbin which will hopefully attract those that don't realise what fun the town will be.
