.......Sadly, like orienteering, it is hard to film.

I think we are finally getting closer and closer to being able to offer ourselves for Olympic inclusion. Trac-Trac and GPS give the on screen positioning of the competitors..... Sprint-O allows TV to cover the progress in the terrain (WC race at O-Ringen)..... and the number of countries taking part is steadily increasing.

Maybe won't be long before we can be a demonstation sport. Would it be possible to make London 2012?

The Olympic village would make a great site for a demo Sprint (not technically challenging but visually it would be easy to film using all the security camera poles).... it might be difficult though mapping all the building contractors stuff still being cleared away in the last week.

Changing the thread slightly, the area around the London Olympics site has potential to be joined up to create an Around-Aldershot style Long O. There is a string of potential orienteering areas bordering the site - Victoria Park is already mapped, this joins on to Mabley Green and Hackney Marshes. Wanstead Flats and West Ham Park would also feature, with the Greenway (an open route going right through the Olympic site) linking back to Victoria Park. There would be three road sections linking the areas, the longest being 2km. None of these areas are particularly exciting for orienteering, but it is feasible, if CHIG/LOK are up for it?
