JEC 2008
Seems that this event is in Belgium at the end of this month - anyone know why GB aren't taking a team?

Re: JEC 2008
I seem to recall there being an anouncement last year that 2007 would be the last.
At a guess, funding, as a greater proportion is going on Olympic sports.
Fantastic results in some esp. cycling but its still a pity if non-olympic sports have to lose out.
The champions of the future will only come by supporting the potentials of today.

If it's funding that has seen the cutbacks on tours etc, then that would be a real pity, as there are often opportunities to find money from sources other than governing body. Contribution levels could be put up substantially.

Re: JEC 2008
That must be a mistake, I'm assuming JEC is the same as the old 6-nations, and I'm pretty sure Jason and Gareth would never let non-participation in that event happen. Juniors get too little international experience as it is.

seems to be a fair number of nations, and no GBR. No Scandinavian nations either though?

Re: JEC 2008
Great Britain is taking a full team to the European Youth Champs in Switzerland this year. They are taking place 9th - 12th October, which is normally the time when JEC (6 nations) takes place.
EYOC is a competition for 18's and 16's and i think that GB are planning to take a full team out to compete in each class. It's a good time of year to have another international race, you have plenty of time to refocus and peak after jwoc etc is over.
Since there was no definite competition for 20's at EYOC they were offered the chance to compete at JEC but it would have been a self-help trip, i think there was a couple of people interested in doing it but i'm not sure if anyone has.
There is still the chance that a team of 20's will go out to EYOC, though i'm not sure.It will likely be top 1st year 20's if it is.
Next year the programme is returning to normal. JEC in October and EYOC in June/July.
