EOC 2008

[Gross]

European Champs kick of in Ventspils, Latvia on Monday with the sprint qualifying & finals. Some questions to be asked:

1. Will the teams be greeted by the Town Mayor? Answer - only if they go to visit him as he is currently under house arrest for dodgy property deals:)
2. Will Jamie equal or better his medal tally from Estonia a couple of years ago?
3. Will GBR get a head start to this year's target of 2 medals & 3 top 10 places?

I saw the Lithuanian team on the way to EOC at a competition yesterday - they seemed relaxed and enjoyed a mornings pot hunting (or maybe that was 'pit hunting' ) in a 'boring Kaunas forest' (to quote on member ).

To quote again from an old Eurovision Song (who stayed up to watch?) - Who are the Winners... well it won't be LT United but watch out for good results from Latvia on home ground...

Is there any news on the results at euromeeting as well? Last time I looked I couldnt see a link to any results on the official website, although i cant say my hungarian particularly good.

neil northrop was 6th in the sprint at Euromeeting but was disqualified, not sure why? Doug Tullie had a great result in 17th, laura daniel was 27th. Oleg was the best in long in 24th with neil in 27th, laura was 31st. no results yet for middle.

Well judging by the fact that there are nothing wrong with his splits, the obvious answer is getting caught crossing an uncrossable feature...

Yep mark is right. Map was in sandwich bag and damp wet forest meant most of the detail in the latter part of the course had come off. I pretty much headed straight for the centre of the circle and thought I could cross a stream, but was impassable feature which had been badly mapped. Should have realised as soon as I got there but did the stupid thing... In hindsight it would have only been another 10-15 secs to run round!

Girls live results seem to be working though the men's just comes up with a blank page.

Congrats to Pippa, Sarah, Rachael, Helen B and Grace Elson for making it through to the A final.
Helen P and Mhairi just missed out both finishing in 19th with only 17 going through.

and to Jamie for being fastest qualifier in his heat! Bad luck to GG who missed out on qualifying by a second and was only 32 seconds behind first place in his heat! Good work to Craney, JD and Scotia who all qualified.

Scotia into the finish with leading time, as each runner finishes their intermediate time disappears, Scotia was about 6.55 so none of the 20 odd through yet have matched his time - could be in for a good result, maybe top 20?

oh dear, seems to have stopped updating, but Scotia still in the lead and looking certain for a top 20, possibly even a top 10... but might have to wait for final results to find out.
