Well, quite. To be fair, it does look like they've realised both the need for keeping us troublemakers better informed and the need for a more consultative style of AGM, and so (I'd hope) are going to try to do something to address it.

Yes, as we discussed and has been minuted in the Board, for the next AGM there should be "pro-active communication from the Board to the wider membership to ensure accurate and well-informed information was distributed".

Maybe you, maybe BOF, and sometimes neither. The point is that Nopesport (like all internet discussion forums) contains a mixture of good ideas, bad ideas, controversial suggestions and factually incorrect information (not to mention humourous / sarcastic suggestions that may be mistaken for genuine ideas!). The good ideas are appreciated, but a heated debate on Nopesport based on factually incorrect information isn't helpful to the sport. Nor is it something that BOF can control (we don't use thought control ).

A new process was required for the election of directors to the new board. No doubt it can, and will, be improved upon for the election of the 3 new directors next year. The minutes say "The Board agreed that lessons could be learnt from the 2008 AGM and that director election voting procedures would be widely published in the future."

They probably don't need to worry too much: it seems that too much posting on nopesport means that we're all likely to drop dead of some horrible disease soon enough anyway.

I particularly liked this comment attributed to a member in the AGM minutes:

"[X] suggested that it was beneficial to the voting as a whole that people were not informed of the vote counting system as it may have skewed the outcome."

Not even ZANU-PF have thought of that one yet.

I thought at least one of the board members was an active participant/vested interest in nopesport so hopefully, in the rare case that utter hogwash is posted, BO(F) can quickly state their case.

Debate that originates from ill-informed sources needs to be aired, if only to highlight communication failure. Community boards are fantastic because they allow this, and they allow those who are properly informed to quickly get their point of view across (should they choose to do so, and can accept the ensuing debate that inevitably will arise).

You should only strive to be elite... not elitist.

It's good to hear BO deploring the ill-informed misrepresentations which have been posted on the web. Our volunteer controllers have better things to do having to address this sort of drivel...

but reading a bit further down the minutes, I trust that

"Action 15: Board to think about possible changes to 2009 AGM and implications for Memorandum and Articles."

actually means

"Board to read relevant sections of Mem and Arts prior to AGM and run meeting according to rules contained therein"
