Presumably not a decision by the organisers, but imposed on them by the ISF.
It would be interesting to see a proper explanation of why she was disqualified though.

Have to disagree. the criteria are not wishy washy at all - they are very precise. The BSOA wanted understandably to give priority to those from school teams as opposed to individuals running in BSOC: the team concept is important to BSOA, and I applaud them for it. The priority is precisely defined: 3 places are guaranteed to those with teams in BSOC, with a maximum of 2 available to those without teams. This is not a token gesture, but an effort to precisely define the phrase 'give priority' whilst still giving others a chance of selection (selectors regularly being accused of not precisely defining criteria!).Mrs H wrote:The criteria gets a bit wishy washy at that point and needs to be one thing or the other..... without the token gesture towards schools teams in the latter

- you know as perfectly well as I that it is entirely possible to persuade two other people to come along to the qualifying amount of pre-BSOC events (3) and then go to BSOC (they don't even need to complete the course) and we both know it's been done and without any investment in developing orienteering in the said school.

Next time is next year in Spain, they're moving from even to odd years so only a year away!
Scottish selection races can't be far away (probably scottish schools champs on 6th May)
