Internetr problems. But why are the classes called D and H? I thought that English was the adopted IOF language, and this is in Britain.

Eddie,
Hopefully someone will have be able to relay the results to someone with an internet connection.

For a World Champs it's not exactly over-exposed - there's a big (bland) press release on the SOA website, but no obvious link to the World Schools site. Maybe the whole event has a media blackout because of BOF child protection guidelines

Having found the WSOC site , it has a start list for today's "classic" - there appear to be "schools" races and "select" races - can someone explain how athletes were selected? i'm no expert but there's a few top Scottish juniors not there...

Eddie,
It was always going to be hard work for Julia as she was running against the first and second Girls from last years W16 Class at the Swedish 5 days. Julia was fairly pleased with her run and is looking forward to see how she faired in the split times.
I now await the Middle Distance race on friday.
Some other excellent results so a big well done to the other boys and girls competeing for England, Scotland and Ireland.

The England (+Wales) team is selected at the British Schools Champs. Each country must enter a school team before they can enter a select team in the same class. The school team is 5 athletes from the same school (BSOA selects the school, school selects the individuals), the select team is 5 athletes selected from any schools by the BSOA.
Don't know how the Scottish selections work.
Look to be a good few medal positions for the English, nicely!

Final results and routegadget going up at the moment.
All the England select teams are lying second in the team competition, with the Middle to come on Friday.
Scottish Aboyne Academy team are lying 2nd in H2 School, English D1 School Ulverston are lying 3rd.
Some excellent individual results too, as you can see from the provisional ones up at present (they are pretty much final, don't think there are any changes from the ones posted, PaulF uploading final ones now)

ok, I had faith in this event till I just had to make a class winner non-comp due to the fact she didn't have any teammates, in an event where individual prizes are awarded.

Given that the population of Latvia is only 2.5 million they seem to have good representation through the results.

I don't understand - assuming you mean Aine McCann - there appear to be other Irish girls running

not in her 'team' within her class, it was just her competing
it's one of those archaic 'but it's in the rules' situations where every competitor doesn't care (possibly even embarrased by it), the results team hate it, etc etc. It won't affect the team results as they are done on combined time.
Common sense should always prevail!
