A potential problem arising out of a refusal to take sensible amendments is that in future years, knowing that amendments may not be accepted at the meeting, people independently put forward dozens of alternative motions, simply because they don't know whether the Board will make sensible proposals (as awk has apparently already started for 2009...

And anyway I think the articles clearly give the Board the power to change the levy arrangements for 2009 if they want to, even at this stage, despite any AGM vote. THe newly elected directors could always champion this, as they wouldn't feel so bound by earlier decisions!
