JK Media Coverage

Postby brooner on Thu Mar 20, 2008 3:11 pm

Get up early tomorrow as Radio Kent are intending to do an interview about the JK at around 8.15am.

You should also be able to listen to the programme live here and for 24 hours afterwards.

If you missed it you can download it here, thanks to GG doing that at short notice.

Also, piece on the BBC website here and more to follow over the weekend.

Disappointed that they didn't link to the JK Website in the bit where it said people could enter on the day though. Can't have everything though.

Well it still seemed to go pretty well!

Also, I found out this afternoon that the JK was mentioned on 5 live this morning, now I need to keep listening to the whole program see if anyone else heard it and actually called in to explain the competition!

Many thanks to Brooner, GG and Darren Bett (husband of Sue Bett, SN) for helping us get some media coverage for the JK. Orienteering needs more exposure.

Yeah, my Dad heard it. He said they were really just poking fun at it, with one guy trying to explain it. I just thought it was cool that it was mentioned.

Orienteering BUSA was also mentioned on BBC Radio 1 on the day of the individuals as they were mentioning all the BUSAs going on in Sheffield that weekend.

There were at least two metions on Radio 5 on Saturday between 8:30 and 9:00.

Following mention of the fottball, grand prix etc, it was raised first I think by the weatherman (Darren) along the lines of "no-one has mentioned the biggest sporting event of the weekend: JK2008...", who also pointed out that he would have been there if not in the studio.

Although there were mentions of mud etc, the presenter said that he had tried it at school, and quite enjoyed it.

And then 15 minutes later there was a mention that the Ross family had phoned in to say that they were on their way there... and a comment that the sport is for the whole family.

Both quite positive I thought

Is there any details of where (event centre) and when JK 2009 is?
