The one and only Safety Dave qualifies for the FCC final in 15th position. The boy is a legend but will we see the Safety Dave salute on the run in? This is the most original celebration of a good run ever to grace the noble world of orienteering and is usually reserved for relays (JIRCs 2002 were u there? u may have witnessed the first ever Safety Dave salute...)
but hopefully it could be coaxed out of its shell for at leats one race at the final. Yet again, 'fair play' to the lad, he deserves this.
Congratulations Safety Dave!!!

The FCC Final would not be complete without the chance of this legendary and unique signature celebration. It is dissapointing to see the majority have nope idea what it is. I can see it now, CompassSport and Team Nopesport in a vicious battle for prime photo spot by the run-in, just in the off chance of a photo of the salute to display in it's full glory. Fair play to Safety Dave. He sure is a legend.

Safety Dave is indeed a rugby league fanatic (Tullie n him could have debates
.............)
I think he should go to FCC final because i for one would be very dissapointed. Would he really let down his legions of fans? Would he rather watch rugby? Now that wouldn't be very safe........
But, fair play to the lad, im sure hell make the right decision

His orienteering name is Safety Dave...........
And this hasnt just appeared through [nope] either
Safety Dave was born around 3 years ago, during one NWJS weekend where he brought it upon himself to become my guardian. All i could hear was 'Rhys, fasten your seatbelt', 'Rhys, tie ur shoelaces' or'Rhys, don't jump off that crag' and i got somewhat annoyeds and came out with 'Look, SAFETY DVAE.....blah blah' and thank god the name stuck. Since then hes come up with some amazing memories form orienteering, including the Safety Dave salute and his arch nemesis Dangerous Brian the Danger Moose. Hes a legend.

Rite im very unhappy with the way the poll is going and im going to make it my mission to make sure u all kno who he be.
Anyone watch the M/W48- relays at JK? See the guy who beat evryone to the start control by a good ten metres (haha-legend), well thats Safety Dave.
Anyone at JIRCs in the Midland and when Oleg came over the hill u could hear sum1 screamin OLEG'S COMIN!!!!...that was also Safety Dave
Anyone seen a guy who runs with his thumbs stickin up?..... that too is Safety Dave
He had one very very long chin hair for a while as well till Jonny Porcotr threatened to rip it off him at the next squad w/e - Its gone R.I.P. Daves chin hair
He also bears a resemblance to Prince William (or so im told :S- cant really see it meself)
Ifu dont kno him now - sod it just go to a relay nxt year (i.e.JK) n watch for a guy who nails it to the control banner as tho gettin there first is gonna help him win........fair play
