It's got to be Oxford, and my first O-Ringen next summer! Did I read someone mention an Edinburgh City Race? My heart leapt... Right back to the Lost Fest Series 3 - I'm on episode 7 and Kate and Sawyer finally got it together.. ah bliss, it's the holidays, can you tell?

BAOC Sprint Championships, HMS Sultan (Gosport), 3rd November. It's got it all; Victorian forts, moats, live helicopters, goats, tunnels, buildings you could (but shouldn't) run over.

French 5 day in Summer 2008. Same superb technical areas as the recent European Junior Champs (and the 2 day before the 5 day in Vulcania - World Cup last year).

Unfortunately, the Army sprint championships at HMS Sultan have been cancelled (or postponed until 2008). Insufficient entry.

Re: What orienteering are you looking forward to?
Should have it on 12th January down near holyrood,
why ?
well, there will be a whole pile of TV cameras covering the International Cross Country - maybe they could be persuaded to point up the hill and do a quick feature ???
either then or at the same time as the World Cross Country Champs in the same place on 30th March

well the fixtures list says Jan 26th....which is a saturday i think...so guess it will be either early in the morning or in one of the quieter bits of town - once upon a time when i lived in pilton i always thought the overgrown remains of the Granton gasworks would be great for Park-O (but not after dark...)

You'd have to know exactly where the cross country course goes to map the barriers otherwise people would look pretty silly scratching their heads.

The OMM this weekend, then the November Classic weekend. Only orienteering i'm doing till the end of the year, so 2 nice weekends away should suffice until the new year.
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it.

Edinburgh City Race is indeed on 26th Janurary. In the afternoon. Around the central area (but the bits with fewer cars) It's going to be crackin. Ceilidh on the Saturday night and event on Arthurs Seat on the Sunday. More details to follow!

Re: What orienteering are you looking forward to?
jan 26th... excellent
Will probably have a workshop up there from the 28th-30th, so would be very nice to have an event too. Good timing.
I agree on the haggis, should also require some poetry, and a few drams too
(looks back with rose-tinted spectacles ... ah them were the days)
