I really, really hope you're joking. If not, there will be a huge rant on your way very very quickly...

Re: Typical English Football
But surely the whole situation is just a case of supply and demand - fans are willing to pay incredibly high admission prices to see "top players" so clubs have to pay the money out to buy them in order to keep the fee paying fans happy and also to get the teklevision coverage which keep the backers happy - it's a bit of a vicious circle and i'm not quite sure how they break out of it - or even if they would want to - i think you just have to look at it as show business - not sport and the players are like the film stars or musicians in their particular area of performance. As long as they have a paying audience for their work I can't see a way out.

On the Scottish news last night they went on for five minutes about how a Coke addled Cally Thistle player should be supported through his difficult addiction after being convicted for possession and not instantly thrown out of the team.
This made me angry. Very angry. He's not an actor or a pop star, he's a "sportsman." Apparently.

Oh I'm not condoning or defending - just trying to make sense of the situation, but when were high profile, overpaid sportsmen ever immune to drugs, drink and gambling. Perhaps it is just as well that orienteers are not paid like football players - It seems nothing exceeds like excess
