Running across the Kips (just behind Hector) Wull Hynd of Moorfoot asked "who's that guy."
"Hector Haines - just come up to Uni" says I
"young and foolish then" - says Wull - clearly thinking he'll be passing Hector later on...
"he'll be fine" says I "he's a top class orienteer"

Kitch looked in bits when I saw him on Capelaw. Hector, by contrast, looked like a man on a training run. Very impressive - well done!
