Nice to see that the equality selection policy has been enforced once again...but i'm sure there must be a valid reason this time.

I once again put that the valid reason is that at this age at the moment, the guys are much stronger than the girls
id happily like to see that change
maybe 1/2 other girls could have gone, but obviously the selectors decided not, end of.

Three points which may (or may not) add to the discussion:
1. The Equality Policy talks about equality of opportunity not equal numbers.
2. There are more girls than boys in the new Start Squad.
3. The selectors had lengthy discussions and chose people according to the criteria for selection.

There's nothing wrong with challenging the equality of British team and squad selections, it is important that there are valid reasons for any discrepancies.
It is worth noting that illness and injury can also often make a difference in numbers when it comes to selection.

what do people think about the current policy of 'we don't take top year 20s to jec'? i understand the reasoning, the older juniors have other things to compete in and they are trying to give younger juniors the experience. but people like CK coombs, joe mercer, tess hill, becca roberts and others could have produced some really good performances in jec, as their last junior international, as could scotia, oleg etc last year. GBR has only brought in this policy in the last couple of years, if you remember vicky brocklebank and mharky's individual gold medals, gg's silver, the boys' relay gold in 2004 and others..they were mostly top year 20s. all other countries including switzerland and norway usually take their top year 20s to jec. are we missing out?
(also incase people dont realise there is a separate 18/20 individual competition for the sprint and classic at jec and i'm not saying don't take 18s who could do really well, but why take 1st year 20s over 2nd years?)
sorry to bring that up, just wondering what other people think, but big CONGRATULATIONS to those selected and good luck!!

Ruth, the other major nations don't send their 20s to JEC - one of the key reasons why we don't any more - we were winning too easily!
You will note that quite a few of our 2nd year 20s went to Euromeeting instead and took on the seniors. In 3 months time these athletes will be M/W21s - about time they started thinking and preparing for being big old seniors and taking that next step up the rung. And hat off there were some good results I see.
Anyway, problem solved. There will be no more JECs after this year.

No - problem solved, as Lard said. It's not that JEC will still happen and we won't send a team; there will be no JEC. As I understand it, EYOC will be in October next year (hurrah say junior squads because of recent clashes with JIRCs)and the view is that EYOC will stay and JEC will go.
