Text report says that the 3 GB women and 1 man (Matt) are through to the final so I guess we will have to wait for the official results to go up to see how they all did.

What a huge disappointment for the World that there are no realistic results available. I have no sense of what it is like there (except that it is hot), quite unlike the brilliant coverage from Denmark last year. (Live results never did catch up ad have since disappeared altogether).
I do hope that at least Live results wake up for the finals. I suppose that as we will be looking for the top results, at least these will appear on the text stream.
Well done to all the girls and to Matt from a very early start.

just looking at the splits for the long Q yesterday, and see that Jon had a nightmare of a start, down in 28th place after the first control, so he ran a top race to catch up the leaders, so hope he can run clean in the final.

I don't think Eddie suggested they were a right, just that he was disappointed. But I don't think they should be regarded as a priviledge.
These are the World Championships, the most important event in our sport, and likely to receive the most interest from the media and others. I have an expectation that they can get live results on the net. I accept that audio streaming (and video streaming, which they achieved in Denmark) aren't likely to be as reliable.
Fingers crossed for Live Results for the remaining races, but I'm not very optimistic.

Exactly so Spookster. I am suprised at your comment Mharky. What does it tell the World about our sport if our premier event cannot provide even the most basic information. This does not appear to be am matter of electricit supply, or internet connection. The live results system appears not to have been given any priority whatsoever, with no thought as to how it would work.
The event may be great, but as a window to the rest of the World it has so far been pretty disastrous.

Is the world looking at our sport?
I've just had a look at all the results and splits from today. What other basic information do you want?
What should the live results system been given priority over? Controls in the correct place perhaps?
WOC is not a window to the rest of the world. It's a race to see who is the best orienteer.
You complain when WOC, the World's premier event, doesn't have live results. But when BOC, Britain's "premier" event has controls in the wrong place you think that that it's OK and all results should stand. Because, afterall, the best person in Britain won...

Of course controls in the right place are far more important as indeed are properly run starts, transport to them etc etc. Why is it either or? If manpower is really that low (unlikely in an eastern Eurpopean country I suspect) then I am sure there are plenty of willing foreign volunteers that could input the data if requested.
What I do know is that as long as the internet connection holds, (which it did,) it is not difficult to keep the results pretty well up to date. And should an inkling of the feeling here and no doubt elsewhere gets back to whoever can do anything about it, the whole experience of the finals could be greatly enhanced.

Well, it certainly won't if the coverage isn't up to scratch. Actually, it's better not to have live coverage at all than something that doesn't work, as the latter looks far more unprofessional.

It's both.
As has been said elsewhere, it's not a case of either/or, it's a case of both: this is the world's premier event; it needs to have both great courses and great coverage.
So should the British, but that's another story.....!
