WOC starts next weekend. It looks like it'll be a 'fun' event for all athletes, coaches, officials & spectators... travel to many events is via the underground train... event centre is a massive 26 story hotel on the banks of the river.... plastic tokens for the tube... and no hot water for competitors staying in the budget accommodation:
Dear O-friends! Unfortunately we have to inform you that in the accommodation standard A6 - Hostel the hot water will be turned off during the period of WOC2007. Organizers are looking for some alternatives. The information will be posted as soon as possible.

Qualification races at WOC start tomorrow (for Sprint) and then Sunday (for Long) and Monday (for Middle).
Sprint Qual starts at 1500 local time, so that's 1300 UK time. Long and Middle quals start at 0930 (UK 1130).
Go GB team! - let's have lots of you in the finals!!

The Irish team often stayed in the budget accommodation because we had to pay for it ourselves(particularly at World Cups)... as did the kiwi's, americans, spanish, portugeuse (all the nations who paid for themselves) and the eastern europeans.... and while usually it was fine you sometimes got some awful stuff. WOC in Finland was great as everyone was together and the accommodation was good (not great but modern, clean, basic...)
No hot water is a bit of a joke... but I'm sure they'll sort it out.

Looks like a hot one.... temp forecast to be upper 30's by middle of week.... I'd guess that there will be a shortage of bottled water in shop / market across from EC by midweek:)

14.13 Helen B
