Could this be three in a row for Yorkshire?? The Coach refused to comment when questioned leaving the house this morning!
Way to go Yorkshire!

Dead tight at the top: YHOA are leading the Scots by just 4 points, having won the boys, and come third in the girls. So it's all to play for on a completely different area tomorrow - from the lightning fast limestone moors around Malham to the more traditional steep mixed plantations of the Otley Chevin (scene of the individuals last time the JIRCs were in Yorkshire).
Superb run from Hector who won M18s by minutes (marginally over 5mins/km) with a very clean run (or so I heard 3rd hand), looking very impressive on the big hill climb just after the road crossing but watch out for Duncan Birtwistle, first year M16 who recorded fastest mins/km of the day over all the classes to edge out top second years Peter, Kris and Matt. Seconds covered the four of them.
Sorry if snippets above are weighted towards Yorkshire: I was slightly more focused on them than the rest today!
Incidentally, there was absolutely no mobile signal on the area whilst I was there.

Absolutely fantastic spectating. With short courses and spectator control there was always something happening. It was riveting to watch, with changes of fortunes every few minutes and some intensely close racing (two mins off the pace at the first leg boys' spectator control meant outside the top 20). It also meant that 15th place at the end of leg 2 was enough of a platform to enable Hector pull his team back up into first place, overtaking Jack Wood (good to see him back so strong) just before the run-in. At the time we didn't appreciate this was the winning team as Kris Jones had come in first, but he had sadly mispunched earlier.
What we did know was that Scotland had just won the girls' race yards in front of YHOA, and that it meant that they would need their second team to have a good gap over the YHOA second team to have a chance of the overall prize. They certainly had a gap, but it was just one place, and that was pretty much it with Yorkshire winning their third trophy in a row. A great effort though from the Scots to push the home team so close. After 8 consecutive second places, will next year in the North East be their year?
East Midlands finished their relays really strongly to take third overall, their first time ever in the medals, a great all round performance, nudging North West down into 4th by just two points.
