Focus just popped through the door with interesting article about BOF promoting MBO in conjunction with foot orienteering.
Think it great for the sport(s) if more events are laid on with the option of both in the same area and on the same day or weekend (similar to the five events in three days of the White Rose).
Certainly beats travelling 100 miles+ for a single run that may last only about an hour.
Make a weekend of it as opposed to just a Sunday morning.

Copy those sentiments, i'll certainly be partaking in the White Rose weekend, hopefully combining Burnsall fell race as well, to make it a fell running, orienteering, mtbo weekend.
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it.

Long O and MTBO at the same time - implies using the same controls? Having done two such events on foot I don't think I'll be doing another as I like my long O to be above red standard.
This is NOT meant to be a criticism of anyone putting on such events as it suits many people, but maybe it is something for planners and entrants to think about. Maybe it should be made clear what sort of technical standard runners should expect.

That certainly wasn't the case at the Chase Challenge Long-o last year. Just hope it's a bit cooler this year.

Controls are different and mostly on different areas....
Using the same controls brings a bit of health and saftey to the party....

stodge also suggested that my thought of doing both MTBO and long-O is possible, and I presume I could be competitive in both (not that I'd actually be competitive in a middle MTBO after a long-O!) That and the MTBO on Sunday is a middle distance, which implies it should be shorter than the long-o.
I presume you're thinking of the "Around Aldershot" event, Eddie? I'm inclined to agree with your thoughts about the long-O - glad I did the MTBO first as my competitive race!
(note to Stodge - won't be coming out to play unfortunately, as still recovering from last weekend's mishap!)

MTBO in Lithuania uses same start & finish as foot O - same last control & majority of MTBO controls are used by foot O people....
