What did everyone think of this weekends courses at High Dam and Boretree Tarn?
Too long, too short (distance rather than time!) ? Organisation? Weather?
Borrowing some words from the day 2 planner to describe the way I ran, MUPPET is very accurate although my longest split does not claim the prize for longest split of the weekend, someone else can claim that one.
Can I claim the highest tick count, at least 20 of the black ones and numerous baby brown ones probably still crawling up my legs?
Despite all the above, we all enjoyed it.

Muppetry in motion is my claim to fame this weekend. A great technical area with lots of varied terrain. Just a shame my skills arent so technical. Great weather, maybe just a touch tooooo hot but what a tan! Am pleased to of completed the course on both days without injury.
Congrats to MDOC on a triumphant event.

I extracted 10-15 ticks using O Tom on Saturday. On Sunday I was quick and most of the 25-30 I removed hadn't actually bitten yet. All in all very annoying when all you want is a double burger from the Barbie - mmmm nice.
Anyway they were the lucky ones and were set free. The ones crawling on my kit when I got home were burned alive.

I'm gonna keep it alive, and continue to be, flying like an eagle to my destiny.

Course length seemed right (it looked a bit short on paper, but in practice was just right), map is great, terrain is some of the best in England (apart from the thick green block, which personally I hate!).
The controls were hidden until you were on the right side of the feature, but that's fine, you just have to be precise.
The weather and organisation were excellent - it's good to get used to racing in the heat. Looking forward to more of that in Bordeaux and Speyside.
Just a pity about the SI box problems (a failed box on Day 1, and some incorrectly programmed boxes on Day 2), which will make it harder to upload the results to Winsplits, RouteGadget, etc without a bit of post-processing.
Thanks MDOC, a very enjoyable weekend!

Think me dad can claim highest tick counts... certainly the largest one - looked more like a fly than a tick!
Enjoyed the courses... suffered from major blisterage and a bit of brain melting.

Goes to show how much your mindset matters. I think the weekend showed me that I need to take a bit of a break before the O-ringen and Scottish. What I did and looked at was pretty straightforward if physcially tough. Really enjoyed the barbecue on Saturday!

Compared Sunday's map with the 1983 map and I must say I find the older map clearer to read. Interestingly on Course 6B going from 3 to 4 I crossed a definite stream before the stream by the wall - not shown on Sunday's map but there on the l983 version as seasonal stream!

I'm a bit surprised there aren't more positive comments about this event. I only ran on Sunday, when it delivered just about everything I'd want from an orienteering event - atmosphere, terrain, map, course, competition on my course.
Thanks, MDOC.
Definitely one to remember when training on a winter night and starting to wonder why I'm doing it.
(Or even while splashing through flooded footpaths and fields in mid-June)
