Just heard from Rob that Nick Barrable ran away from the others by quite a bit so it's 1 SYO, 2 NOC and FVO just finished - assuming downloading doesn't throw up any problems. Well done!!

Love-O ?? Sounds interesting. . . I'd still have to enter my normal short course, on account of my lack of. . . er. . . staying power !

Well done HOC Juniors - that's a handsome winning margin on the B Course
I found the results on mike Napier's site at

So Spookster, how was it for you on first leg?
I see you were beaten back by a girl!! (well done Helen by the way).
Judging by the results, Penhale at night proved quite a navigational challenge. Any horror stories out there?

The harlequins womens team has a story to tell. Only one completed unscathed.
I wish the full results would appear, apparently there were a few problems on download, as they closed download before the final finisher finished

Yep, everyone on first leg got their butt kicked by Helen. She was going nice and steady, spiking the controls, and not many other people were.

I lost 9 mins at 12 on leg 1 (227)

Over the last 5 years the A Course has been won in between 382 and 418 minutes. Today's was won in 484 minutes!

It was an epic (in a good way)
and from the opposite end of the results table I couldn't agree more! Truly memorable and well worth the journey.

Harvesters this year were one of the best i've been to - absolutely brilliant. Love Penhale at day - now love it at night, well all 5 minuntes I ran in!
As for Lumpy Lycra and her unscathed run - I saw her afterwards - she looked pretty CHUFFED to have completed 9km at night/dawn on Penhale! Very proud of my Mum

Penhale at night is a humbling experience. The details said the paths would be difficult to follow at night, and they were right, whenever I happened to find one it usually just vanished into thin air. I found relocation to be almost impossible so one has to be right on the game all the time - unfortunately I wasnt and I got punished all around my 8.2km 1st leg. It was physically hard too.
That was definitely the most technical orienteering I have ever done. I am full of respect to all those who got around, and in awe of those who blasted around in half my time.
Finally, many thanks to everyone involved!

Looking at the splits I'd finally caught you back up there - think you were just leaving as I got into the area (possibly I saw a light leaving about then - not sure). Although I didn't see you again until after your shower

If Mark Rowe is on here - sorry I lost you somewhere between 11 and 12. I was slow and hesitant but hit it pretty well, on the other hand Mark lost a good 40 mins on that leg and I last saw him not more than 50m from the flag!
All in all a proper hardcore night leg that was. Excellent.
