SINS
Just returned from a great weekends orienteering. Never such rain as on Day 2 - it rained non-stop for over 30 hours. Pity the poor control collectors. Three very different forest requiring different techniques. Sahme my only decent run was on the easiest techincal course!! Many thanks to all teh Organisers, especially Mrs H for all her publicity and drive. Great quiz Liz

Thanks for the positive feedback. Am just home now to unload etc. Due to organisational committments despite being on the campsite did not see or get the opportunity to take part in any of the activities but word said they were brilliant. Glad weather was better for Brampton as it is a lovely setting. Walk to start a bit tough but at least it meant course climbs not too great.
Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

Agree with the other comments. Well done Mrs H and the whole team: an excellent weekend and quite cheap too at £22 plus parking for 3 days! I thought Bucknell (despite the rain) had some very good terrain and interesting courses.

Thanks folks - just surfaced
It was as you say a huge team effort.
My "Vision" was obviously a bit blurred - the camp site was more Glastonbury and Glyndbourne - but I still can't believe that we had 70 couples (140 people of all ages - does anyone have any photos we could look at?) for the 3 legged score and nearly 50 for the run-in (even though it was still raining).
Thanks to Hoco, Ancient Grouse, Lumpy, Harley, the Fords, Neville and the Misses h. for basically working non-stop all weekend.
The quiz and celilidh were fab thanks to Liz and Paul for all thei hard wpork and Chris and his band for theirs. None of them are members of the organising clubs but they just pitched in big time.
But most of thanks to everyone who came - and stayed - and then were kind enough to stop and tell me they'd had a good time - it really does make all the difference you know

The events and organisation were fantastic. You could tell that everyone was working hard throughout to keep everything running smoothly.
The weather... to be honest was like hell just alot colder. We have learn't our lesson... when double raindrops and heavy winds are forecast... book a B&B.
Looking forward to SinSs 2009... the weather can't be like that again.... it just can't.

Day 1 comments
I was half of the planner for day 1, and it was the first big event I've planned, so I'd appreciate any comments (good or bad) from people who were there. If there were problems (I already know about the final control in the wrong place, and I was a bit unhappy about the control close to the edge of the map), please point them out so we can do better next time. I think I can handle a bit of gripesport on the interests of becoming a better planner.

Thanks to all the teams for giving us three excellent days of orienteering - despite the weather on Sunday
It was such a nice relaxed weekend and the setting for the assembly field on Monday would benefit any national event
Well done everyone - may we have many more SINS

Well done for being so open and seeking public feedback. I hope you get it. For course 4, I thought it had a good mix: some fast running at the start, some taxing shorter legs, and a long leg (thank goodness it wasn't cloudy as it would have been on Sunday!).
I found the radio-orienteering in parallel a little distracting: eg I'm sure they had a control within 30 metres of pit 133. Were control sites coordinated? It's confusing to have them milling around near a site on your own course. Not something I'd like to see again at a Regional event.
Incidentally, the "rough open with scattered trees" is much more legible on the T Clee map than on either days 2 or 3: is there a reason why?
Thanks for all the work you put in giving us a weekend of enjoyment.

Richard, my comments on day 1 course 4:
I thought the course was a little long for M40S - though no doubt some L class runners sharing the course will disagree!
However I appreciate that Titterstone Clee has a particular geography which limits flexibility in course lengths.
I particularly enjoyed the legs 3 - 8 and the little loop 11 - 15 after the crossing point.
I thought control 17 (51) was unexpectedly far down the spur, if not at the bottom?
My mispunch at near the end at 20 (62 instead of 56) was all my own fault - exhaustion had set in!
Thanks for a good interesting course!

I thought course 2 on day 1 was excellent. It made good use of the best bits of the area and I enjoyed it much more than my BOC course. In fact, the contrast between days 1 and 2 made both of them very enjoyable (I only did the first two days).
I had a minor gripe with the planning on day 2: on leg 14-15 I ran back through the start, which wasn't the optimum route as it gave me extra climb at the end, but also wasn't a ridiculous choice as the start was quite close to the straight line. If you have a leg where that is a possibility, it's not a great idea to have the start blocking the entire path! Apologies to anyone in the pre-start area who had to dive out of my way!
