Morning folks,
Anyone got a copy of the Venice map that they could kindly load onto Nopesport?
Much obliged.

not long to go
Only 4 days to go to venice - anyone flying from East Midlands (easyjet), on friday or Saturday?
Anyone yet know where park-o is, or the main start?
Anyone got any tips for the race?
or essential things to do / see whilst there?

Dad and I are competing. We're flying out from East Mids on Thursday morning. You'll recognise us; we'll be the ones remonstrating with staff about dangerous items of baggage like SI cards.
"Anyone yet know where park-o is, or the main start?"
No, sorry.
Have you managed to find any start times yet? Doesn't appear to be anything on the website. Seems to be the Italian way; did you notice the entries more than doubled the day of the closing date?

Venice
Start times are now on main website - at least for the main Sunday race - no park-o details.
I think all the Italian entries were added to list on the closing date.
Anyone any last minute tips on what else to see / do whilst there?

Having been there a few times I thought I'd share some thoughts:
- It's the most brilliant race in the history of the world.
- The finish is always in the same place (same as on the map that was linked in a post above)
- The start moves around from right next to the sports palace (which is the bit of jagged road NW of the finish), to 500m away, to even a boat ride away across the grand canal to the tip of the island to the West of the finish. But they don't usually publish that until the day before the race. So, don't know for sure this time
- I wouldn't get overly excited about the park O. It's basically a short version of the main event, with only 10% of the people taking part, and usually on the more boring bit of the east side of the map. Having said that, it's a good warmup. Don't think there will be allocated start times for that.
- Definitely wander over to the event center on Saturday, it's open all day. Pay the fees, get some bumpf, soak up the atmosphere.
- Otherwise I'd just wander around town and wouldn't worry too much about museums etc if it's your first time in Venice. It's more about the atmosphere. Having said that the Guggenheim is worth a quick trip though quite pricey.
Enjoy!!
