Place names that could be control sites!

It's ridiculous what fatigue does to your brain, but the other day on a training run my mate started thinking of place names that could also be control sites

Sadly he could only think of South Cave, just north of the Humber, but we're sure there must be many more. I've since thought of "Boulder" in Colorado, but need help (yes I know the obvious punch line to that ) thinking of any more. Come on, it has to be better than mind numbing sudoku!

Hmm, there's a Pillocksgreen in Shropshire but it ain't a control site So forget I mentioned it, or even started this thread

The banter forum needs to address the important questions of our time, like "why does Lincoln have that silly spelling with two L's when its not even in Wales? It should be spelt Linkon or Linken. Is this an attempt to make the place more interesting?"

Sean, if you check the Bomber website you'll find a link explaining the derivation of the word Lincoln, a mix of Iron Age Briton (Welsh?) and Latin. So well spotted

My banter goal is wide open and your shooting is about as good as a Watford striker's. I assume the banter forum is designed for not to serious rudeness. I was a little bit rude about Lincoln, now its your turn to be a bit more rude about Dartford. That can't be too hard! Then someone else chips in with something like "yea but nothing beats Hull for craptownness, the best thing about the place was ..." and before long we have a full scale north / south UK banter.

A bit difficult with people you've never met I suppose.

Sean I thought the wink gave away that I didn't take your comments to heart, as I always assume the banter section to be just that. I was just taking another blatant selfish opportunity to plug the Bomber weekend But there was no call to liken me to a Watford striker, especially with Lincoln City winning 5-0 away on Saturday

Oh I don't think so. There's nothing wrong with a bit of orienteering related wordplay. Orienteers just love this sort of thing. It beats people banging on about their "portfolio" or obscure Edinburgh nightspots.
