YBT
I know Seloc had computer problems at the weekend and their flyer does say final results will be on BOF site by 17th. October but how much effort would it take to post on Nope with the names of the clubs who got through to the final. Perhaps we are being spoilt getting results up so quickly for the majority of events but I would have thought that this would be another positive attraction to our sport.

I'm mightily impressed by that massive score on the yellow from BARRO. great to see a new club up there as a follow-up to their appearance at Peter Palmer relays

I really hope that means final results, rather than provisional ones. Still awaiting anything other than RJ's posting (thank you BTW).

From the results team.... when the prelim results were sent to me.....
"Here are the Prelim Results for the Yvette Baker Qualifier. Any issues identified so far have all been resolved in this update."
So it looks like they stand a good chance of being final.
I have the full course results as well. I don't think they are posted anywhere yet, certainly not linked from the BOF page. I will put them on

Is it me or does the YBT become complex when run at an ageless badge event? Does the JM5S really equate to the green? Presumably badge standards gained at this are applicable to the final, if so children could find themselves running a very different class in the final.
Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

One of the joys of the YBT being at District events was that it encouraged the participation of the junior local orienteers. The whole regional event set up is more confusing for the occasional orienteer.
I passionately hope that the various regional fixtures meetings will put the event firmly back with District Events, from where it has strayed in the north this year.

I agree entirely seabird - I was very disappointed to see the YH and NW rounds scheduled for regional events (and it would have been good to see both events as district events anyway).
However, Hocolite, the mapping of YBT onto a regional event should be seamless - JM/JW5S is exactly equivalent to a Green : at Watergrove it was 4.5k. It's just that regional events put more local/developing orienteers off (and are more expensive). I think there is trouble storing up with gold badge holders not being published though. If they aren't, then the rules will need to be changed, otherwise the competition will become inoperable.
BTW - my usual class (M45S) had two finishers. Now that's what I call a great competition (not!). Compares to the 70-odd at my last district event.

I agree........
Association Fixture Secretaries have been asked to bring their Regional nominations for 2007 YBT rounds to the next National Fixtures Meeting in March .... so you need to lobby through your club fixtures secretary or Association meetings if you want to make this happen.

Excellent news Peter. We had already geared up our club Fixtures Secretary on this issue, in line with your suggestion.

I notice the flyer for the final states "No coaches"-I assume they mean the vehicular kind.
My recollection is that it is quite common for clubs to travel by coach to this event.
Is this restriction going to inconvenience many clubs?

in reply to Seabird, it would be my dream to see our juniors turn up at a YBT in a coach, as it has a certain subliminal message about successful club development behind it,( but i know Mrs H has been working out logistics of minibuses this year, so maybe that'll be a good substitute if it's do-able)
edit, just noticed coaches are allowed by prior arrangement
The available gold times for juniors are on BOF website at
http://www.britishorienteering.org.uk/a ... ID=JUNIORS
and I think it would be really useful if everyone could have a look at which events are missing the necessary info and get it remedied (if their club is one of the ones with missing info), so that no-one has any reason to make the sort of comments that appeared on here last year after the final.
Help make it the greatest YBT ever!
