The story is just about fully told on the website, its beginning is the first week after the Scottish 6 days, little did I know how soon that superb week in Deeside would suddenly be overtaken by events ‘off the field’.

Just a quick update..... another huge thankyou.....and another opportunity to get involved incase you missed out last time.

Thanks to all you 'nopers' who kick started our fundraising we have been able to review our fundraising challenge twice now. Our original target has been blown out of the water completely and our revised target of £750 met last week. We are now aiming for our wished for, but at the time not brave enough to state it, holy grail of £1000.

Our training mileage is coming along nicely now, as are our training experiences, falling over styles, falling into gorse bushes, seeing deer, foxes and other varieties of wildlife, the aches and pains and last but not least, being dive bombed by a Buzzard while running along the South West Coastal path last week.

Mission accomplished yesterday.

Still struggling with the mathematics and geometry of it all, maybe one of you mathematicians could shed some light on the conundrum.
Why is the last mile three times as long as any previous mile !!!
Knackered at the end but euphoric at finishing.

From what I can gather the two training updates I sent out to those that requested updates from the justgiving site don’t seem to have been received by some of you for some reason – presumably they are flying around in cyber space somewhere.

Hard to believe but in a starting line up of 50,000 we ended up standing next to an orienteer.

Jo 2 hr 03 minutes ( but this did include a 5 minute toilet stop – the downside to having to get into the start blocks an hour and a half before the gun goes!! )

No thunderstorms, sunny and blue skys to start with and clouded over later. We didn't get the rain until the race was over.
Great conditions for running, especially as the local people had hose pipes out to cool you down as you ran

I can think of a long list of people who would rather have been doing the GNR than running around Pooley Fields in a thunderstorm

While you and (particularly) Jo are still high on endorphins, put 10th December in your diary - Jo and Amy are needed in Newbury for the YBT final
