Cannock Chase MTBO

For all you MTBO fans I can now confirm that there will be two MTBO events on Cannock Chase before XMAS .

They will be low key, high quality events,MTBO maps, EOD and 3 courses available, Easy, Medium and Long with a 1 hour winning time on the Long.

I really want to have a go at mountain bike O, and have a friend i'd like to introduce to it. so i've looked at the flyer but i'm already a bit overwhelmed by cost. it'll be 9 quid to go biking for an hour!? (i am a payed albeit scummy student. does having your own SI card help?). Also how strict are the rules on what you have to 'take around' (spares etc)?

You just have to wear a helmet + possibly carry a coat depending on the weather ( same as foot O).
Youd be a bit daft not to take an inner tube though
Costs are a nightmare with MTBO
They have to be registered with the TCA not BOF.
They only charge a 30 p levy per head but have a compulsory assoc membership scheme to cover insurance(hence the £2 fee)
The Forestry commission also charge more for Bike related stuff than foot O. Weve managed to get them down to something sensible, but I have heard of instances of them charging up to £5 a head !!!!

Im sure we can offer a student discount rate of £5
(+ the £2 Assoc thing)
SI card hire is included in the price at the moment to try and get the entry fee as low as possible for beginners.
If we get lots of takers economics should also bring the price down a bit...

The discount for WCH members is to try an encourage local bikers and trailquesters to join WCH, as there is no real club structure in existance for Trailquest/MTBO. We plan to offer MTBO and Trailquest training next summer, alongside our normal O training.
