I know that the Purple Thistle is where it's at, but for those who don't fancy the long drive from England, who's going to the White Rose?
I'm considering a late entry (internet entries close today) and was wondering which NOPE posters were going?
I heard a rumour that Oli and Jenny were bringing some of the Worlds elite to sample Yorkshire's finest brambles and nettles!
Andrew.

Nope
Gave up on White Rose a few years back as don't enjoy the long journey with the hoards of bank holiday makers having accidents on the road. This ruined all the fun of the weekend.
Could do with a run though any other events on this w/e or next South or South West of B'ham

Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

I'm sure you'll be pleased to discover I can keep you company in yorkshire andy.
PT sounds great but its the White Rose simply because it was easier to scab a lift to.

From the final details
Just a few queries noticed reading the final details for this years White Rose event... (take it as seriously as you wish)
"Tarmac roads marked with a red X are out of bounds but you may run along the verges to a safe crossing point" - so there you are running along the grass verge and you come across a bush in front of you that extends the full width of the verge.. if the woodland to one side is overgrown/fight, what do you do - as supposedly you cannot run on the tarmac to get round?
Assuming the roads in question are small, single track, relatively wuiet as they do not go anywhere in particular, isnt anywhere 'safe' to cross, afterall, 'competitors compete at their own risk'
"we will not be allowing departues from the evnt until 13.00" - so if i am camping, and want to nip to the shop (probably about 5 miles away), I cant drive out anytime in the morning to get my paper / milk for breakfast, until 13.00?
"there will be a strict speed limit of 10mph" - so I assume marshalls will be there with speed cameras to enusre this is enforced - or do i assume correctly that this is unenforceable?
There are different access routes to the evnts each day for "safety reasons" (due to competitors walking to start/finish along road) - so why a certain way on Friday when no-one is walking to any start or finish, and this happens to be a long way round?
I thought this was a 'fun' event, but please...... yes i know we need rules, but.....?????
Purple Thistle here we come i think!

Option 1 - speed up and hurdle said bush in true Colin Jackson stylee
Option 2 - Carry pruning shears
Putting a foot on the tarmac is as morally defensible as picking the quarter seam on a cricket ball.

Bring a bicycle and save the planet rather than making a short journey in your car.

Enforced in the same way as most other speed limits like this by self-policing. Feel free by all means to break it - I'm sure nobody will stop you, but just consider for a moment that there is probably a reason for it, and it is in our best interests that everybody does keep their speed down.
