Has anyone out there used alternative magnetic sources?

At Challenger World in Minehead a few years ago, by day 4 we had lost our supply of magnets and sent 2 bods out into town with an SI box to visit every souvenir shop to test all the "kiss me quick" fridge magnets etc they could find in the hope that 1 would work.

They were getting desperate when they arrived at the supermarket, and when they got some funny looks from the staff, they explained what they were looking for, and must have looked a bit desperate cos some sympathetic (?bored) worker dismantled a door in the staff room that had a magnetic catch on it that did the trick.

Haven't managed to lose that magnet yet!

Mr Hoco says that if you align them carefully you can get away without a rod. He did it last weekend successfully. He's lost his rod... Well there's a thing

With BSF6 units yes, doesn't work (at least for me) with BSF7s though.

Left all five+ magnets in various places except with the mini printer with master station box. So at the event was unable to light up the clears and the printer master station!! All the control units were BSF7s.... so no problem there.

Solution..... Use the alternator in the car.... with the engine running. Works a treat!
