Peter Palmer Junior Relays back in Sutton Park!

The Organisation of the Peter Palmer Relays is well underway and entry forms will soon be available on the COBOC website.

However this post is more about the PA/Commentry and Entertainment at the event. When last in Sutton Park the commentry received some heavy critism, to try and not disappoint again any suggestions would be much appreciated or volunteers for this post would be welcomed

Get your teams sorted now - its going to be an amazing event - hopefully a massive buoc cake sale and well planned courses couldn't be better!

I believe that the organisers would like an idea of how many teams are going to enter before the scholl summer holidays so please can captains start to sort it because there won't be much time once the schools are back. They don't want names just number of teams

A closing date two monthe beforehand! That's pushing it!! I will find it hard to pin some of juniors down to commit themselves that much in advance. That's more than the JK or BOC!!

Organisers get real. Our experience last year was most clubs didn't confirm anything until about 3 weeks before the event. If you work on average up take of numbers taking part in the last 3 PP you won't be far from getting it right.

I'm not on the organising group, just thought I'd check out the website and post a useful link.

But.... I suspect the organisers (who have been there quite a lot of times before on the PPR) are grittily realistic about what will happen with entries.

However, having been involved in the summer holiday phone arounds for teams for my club for the last couple of years, it would be a dream come true to have the outlines of our club's teams done and dusted before everyone goes away for hols.

Incidentally, this is one of the reasons the relays should keep the second weekend in September slot, becausd the first W/E in England and Wales, is so often still in families holday times, which compounds the problems of getting early recruitment.

I organised the commentary (or 'announcing' as Peter prefered) at what I think was the first Peter Palmer Relays back in the last century - I can only remember the usual boos and jeers but nothing too heavy

I believe the deadline will probably be up to the last week perhaps day. It is only advisory as clubs should be able to know realisticly whether they are going to put a team in or not, this is to give a rough ideas of numbers at an early stage to ensure all is catered for including accomodation and breakfast. I would not like to be the person without a place to sleep ! Names are not being asked for and id guess even an e-mail not an entry of an idea a team is coming would be appreciated rather than a last minute entry which brings a last minute panic for organisers!

But any ideas for commentry? please please please
