Well it's pretty dull round here isn't it - so i thought I'd try and liven up proceedings with a bit of a discussion on Extra Value Orienteering.

This is prompted by the announcement on the O-Ringen site that they have buried 500 cubic metres of snow under the peat and will dig it up and stage a cross country ski race attended by many Olympic stars during the competition. the olypiads will be invited to try orienteering and visa versa - there's an interesting cross-sporting challenge which could be explored elsewhere for a start off.

They are also holding the Swedish National Axe Throwing championships at the C-ort centre. Neville fancies a go at that - selectors beware

now it was the leisure card you could buy at the Gothenburg O-Ringen that gave me the idea for the JK jokers last year. So what can I draw from this shining example for next year's Springtime in Shropshire. I'm hoping for a quiz (proper quiz - proper prizes like at JK05) and a hard core Ceilidh (like at JK 06 - was it Ewan dancing with that tiny, tiny little girl - has your back recovered yet?).

But I need something early evenings on the field - Mr H. is wondering about a duck race, plastic ducks real water

Why not take inspiration from the swedes again and go for a SinS Axe Throwing Championships, I'd give it a go.

Well I never thought I would ever post these words on nopesport but...... I might be a bit worried about the health and safety aspect - on the other hand - as long as i get to choose the targets! How about darts as a half way house!

Perhaps go for a safer object to hurl - the old favourite a Wellie perhaps or something more apposite like an EMIT brick or SI unit.

Egg throwing competitions always go down well. In pairs, One throws and the other tries to catch from increasingly distances.

Summo wrestling was enjoyed by the Welsh juniors at the jk. Only a few broken limbs!!

A three-legged sprint O would be good fun round Ludlow castle!!

Mmmm! well that's a bit more like it even if it sounds a bit messy - but this has to have family appeal - so no alcohol please Hocolite (I know it's hard for you) And most of all it has to be fun fun fun - with lots of prizes!

We had a three legged score event in one of the Parks in Oxford last summer which worked really well, despite the potential for argument over where to go and how to run!

What about 'O' lympics. A number of different activities that can be done throughout the early evening, with prizes for each and overall. A sort of 'O' pentathalon. This could incorporate many of the suggestions. Perhaps the duck theme could be central, collecting ducks as you go!
