It does not overwrite saved routes, the old route must be deleted first. Only RG administrator (Paul Frost?) can delete your route.
You can add stops with +3 button ~ push it 5 times = 15 sec stop (if you stopfor reading map or something). But don't use it too much, you can not stop for 2min if your split is only 1:30 - unless you are faster than light.

It has been great to see the positive response to RouteGadget. I have had several people comment on how adictive/useful it is to see other peoples route choice. I hope that more events will offer this facility in the future.
The planner sent me the following:
The controller about his report:
I didn't get the chance to run on Sunday but looking at the routes is the next best thing.
There are still lots of top performers that haven't added their route yet, you know who you are!
If you know any of those that are missing, encourage them to step up and not to be shy.

What a great tool for planners. It's like watching the images I've had in my head for the past 6 months come alive on screenSome of the route choices I planned on legs did in fact materialise.
The controller about his report:
Having so much fun looking at Route Gadget my comments will be with you on Thursday - I promise

RouteGadget now also available for the short race on the Saturday via http://www.fvo.org.uk
Now I have drawn my route it looks even worse than I thought originally - as I seem to be the first to do so, please get some others up there to help hide it!

Why did I do that...

six routes now up - surely I wasn't the only one to go over the hill en route to number 11? Though come to think of it, is was quite lonely out there. In terms of time taken the splits seem to suggest that there was not a great deal of difference between the over or round routes.

that was my first choice of route as I looked at the course - only about 25m more climb (although it looks like more), and a lot shorter.

No, I went that way as well. I must have spent several minutes at 10 trying to work out what to do. As I don't run that fast, the shorter route seemed more attractive, even with the climb.
After going down the loose slope to 13, I was glad I hadn't gone the long way round to 11, as going up that wouldn't have been nice.

A few months ago I was looking at this programme, and the similar ones as something that would be really useful in some coaching sessions, outside of looking at event routes. At the time our club mapper said there would be copyright issues if it was on a website, so has anyone out there used it on a PC as a coaching tool without putting the maps on the web?
I never got any further with it at the time, apart from admiring it on the Bay Area OC website (California), but would be really interested to hear from anyone who has experience/ thoughts of using it in coaching

You lucky lot!
Was it as useful as I think it could be? I think it could be a great reflective tool (adding an other dimension to the insight you get from splits.
Have e mailed Jarkko about this too, but I guess he's probably swamped by e mails now.
Respect!

Got mine up too now.
Thought I'd made a huge mistake going around from 14 to 15, looks like it wasn't a bad choice after all. Badger went the same way - although a lot quicker !!
Brilliant piece of really useful software (obviously nothing to do with microsoft!)
