A previous thread revealed that at least 2 club captains, myself included, were unaware that the Harris relays were part of the ukrl and the poor turnout suggests we may not have been alone.
Neil M37 revealed the plan to include it was to be found in some minutes of the elite competition group (Apologies if I've got the title wrong). I'm not sure how many of us would have known that we needed to look in this comparatively obscure spot to get hold of this information.
It feels that a little unfairness has been brought into the competition this year by not adequately advertising this change from tradition.
Having said that, I feel there is no alternative but to live with it this year. And then maybe we need to evaluate whether or not the Harris format, which I have never experienced, is appropriate for the League (there seems some doubt) - and then ensure that all Club Secretaries/Captains receive information about next year's UKRL structure.
But who has responsibility for this? Presumably the aforesaid elite competitions group?

I agree, there certainly were some easy points to be had, if you got all the controls that is...
SLOW Men got 4 points at BOC, 3 at JK and 20 at 007...
But, I think most people knew it was gong to happen.
As for the Harris format...

Mharky, you didn't even run it - perhaps the ukrl status is questionable but the event itself was pretty fun.
Competitors were still on their own while actually orienteering (mainly but you could lead a weaker team mate round a couple of controls - like the first few compulsory ones - but I'd say that's part of it), just teams spent some time planning first.
It was interesting to see what each class did. Men's open, off last, all sprinted to the other end of the field to plan, while every other class planned just outside the start box.
My teams tactics were pretty simple, weakest just gets the compulsory and me and the other person got the rest between us, by splitting the map into two parts. Would have been pretty good if he'd stayed on his half of the map...

Elite Competitions Steering Group. The same minutes where they agreed to make Ed Nash's ukcup.db site the official ukcup website (rather than peellandsurveys) and planned to approach him about hosting the ukrl scores on there as well. We have to presume that either this was not actioned, or that Ed declined the extra workload, in which case i was wondering if the scores were hosted somewhere else (Mark Saunders hosted them last year).
Oh well, attatched is my lovely spreadsheet

i've run plenty of Harris relays thanks rookie, at wednesday evening army trianing events...
If it's suitable for the UK Relay League then it is suitable for WOC
Rocky, that is the ugliest looking spreadsheet I have seen in my life...

For those who can't read (although I don't know what good writing to them will do...) there are 2 pages on the spread sheet, one is for men, one is for women....
There also seems to be 2 sets of different results for the 0007 harris...

You are on the mens page, although i had missed your score at british, two SLOW teams two places apart caught me out, so i can only apologise. The spreadsheet has been updated.
also i'm not sure about one of the teams at the Harris relay, entered as Happy Herts but with Jeff Colbert in, who ran the individual for NOC. If they are non-comp then presumably the teams placed below them should get an extra point.

You'll have to check the competitors in several of the Harris teams as they were made up from oddments. The one with Jeff in was not a club team all 4 runners were from different clubs.
Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

Thanks to Rocky for the spreadsheet. I have made some amendments to reflect a couple of women's teams I recognised as mixed clubs in 0007 results. I have got a couple of other queries which I am checking out so might be some other minor changes to come.
If anybody spots anything else they think is wrong, please PM me.
Mark
