In the next issue of Route Choice 5 there will be an article about orienteering at university. The idea is to help the juniors that will soon be thinking of applying to university make a decision by showing them the current options open to them. I am contacting all the university orienteering clubs I can, asking them to each write a short ‘advert’ for their club. These are to be sent to Hilary Palmer to put in the next issue of RC#5, which is due out in June (I think). I would like as many universities as possible to participate in this – and after all this is an opportunity for free advertising for your club!
It would be great if you could organise who in your club will write this and send it to
hilarypalmer(at)britishorienteering.org.uk by the beginning of May.
It is completely up to your club what you write, but I have come up with a suggested format. It must be short, no more than 150 words please, we only have a limited amount of space in the magazine. I suggest you include a little bit about the club, how regularly you attend events, any training you do as a club and how many active members you have. It may be good to include the club web address and a contact email address. You can also include a picture, but I can’t guarantee its size in the magazine.
Smaller clubs (ie only one or two active members) may wish to use a different format to that above, maybe saying who you are, your training habits and how you get to events. This space is designed for you to get what you want from it.
Remember, Hilary will need everyone’s contributions by the beginning of May for it to make the print deadline, but the sooner the better!
Many thanks,
Liz Bridge

Good articles though.
Hey, don't blame me! - the content idea isn't mine, I only tweaked the wording...

Is there anywhere I can read the universities article other than route choice 5? I'm too old to get the magazine any more but would like to read what the different universities put about their clubs. I hope our nottingham piece got in .
Nottingham University: September 2000 - September 2009. Staying in higher education for a decade is harder than you think.

Yes your Nottingham piece did get in. It was a good article well done to the editor and all the clubs for submitting their articles. Perhaps the Times will do a table rating Uni's on their O clubs

Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.
