I'm a photographer doing a project on this year's JK. I want to show that orienteering demands a lot more effort than it's often credited for by photographing people before their sweat/mud/blood has dried after their race. You'll be able to find me by the download tent on day 1 on Ilkley Moor.
The project is intended for magazine publication as well as a local exhibit in Ilkley. You can see my work at http://www.mikepinches.com There's also a bit about the project in the JK programme.
jk@mikepinches.com for all those who want to take part.
JK06 a walk in the park?

Mike this is a great idea.
Are you looking to do some set up shots of people running hard? (could be more productive?)
or looking to get out onto the course and catch competitors in action?
For the former, I'd be happy to point out the top competitors as they finish so you can ask them to take part, being a modest lot they probably won't voluteer staight up. They will make for good dynamic shots as they are the most aggressive and fastest runners.
For the latter it would help to get advice from the race planner/ controller on where to go to get the top competitors and if possible take someone with you to point people out.

from the description kitch i got the impression that mike was going to set up a makeshift studio in a tent to make 'stylized' portraits. i figure against a white backdrop for maximum emphasis...
but then you should never second guess a photographer...

I wanted to say a very big thankyou to all those who volunteered to be photographed and those who offered and gave help on Saturday. I'll post info of when and where you can see the results in a couple of weeks.
