it was seriously considered, but decided against. see the comments on the JOK page - basically fixture congestion (would have meant 3 back-to-back weekends of 2 races) and the fact that this year's UK Cup has plenty of races anyway.

You'll have to ask Peelie/ECSG very nicely then, although I suspect the answer would be a no.

The JOK Chasing Sprint has been re-scheduled for Saturday 22nd April and will still form part of the FCC Qualifying Series. This is so that the FCC Series retains a reasonable geographical spread so as to enable athletes to have a good choice of races to attend.

The FCC Series scoring will be the best 3 scores from a 7 race series.

The organisers of the FCC Final are aware of the change to the last race of the qualifying series. Athletes who intend to compete in the FCC Final are urged to enter in advance if they are confident that they will qualify. Those who prefer to wait to see whether they have qualified for the Final are asked to enter by April 27th. For details of the FCC Final please see the FVO and ECKO web sites.

Don't think I'll bother. If I complain about the lack of proper races he'll probably put mountain biking in again.

I'll ask again - what about the kids going to the World Schools - everyone else is being given an advantage over them - how can this be fair?

Gross's idea was the best - let those who qualify by the JK go anyway and anyone else who qualifies afterwards can also go.

Also I presume any JOK sprint competitors will not be able to take part in BOF training as that gives access to the forest in the morning. This would definitely not be fair as competitors don't have access to forests before other FCC/UK Cup races. I'm absolutely certain access to forest immediately prior to an event is definitely giving competitors an advantage over those who are unable to go to a rescheduled event.

I agree with Mrs. H. and some other comments. Like many other families we have to plan our 'O' commitments to fit in with selection, FCC etc. I am sure there are many like us who have already made other plans for a non-'0' weekend yet feel guilty that we are not giving our youngsters the best possible chance to qualify for FCC final by continuing with our non-'o' plan. As often is the case, Gross's suggestion of JK + odd ones from JOK sounds fairer.

Including Graythwaite as a UKCup race was considered but rejected for the reasons given by Ed - fixtures congestion. Regional fixtures secretaries were consulted and a number of issues were raised by them.

The cancelled national event was also one of three WREs in the UK. This could seriously effect World rankings of some elites which has a knock on effect for some of them - world rankings are important for top orienteers. Options for assigning WRE status to another UKCup race is being considered. If this proves feasible IOF will have to be consulted and agree. The event would need to have input from an IOF Controller which may not be practicable at this stage. If it proves possible then an announcement will be made as quickly as possible.
