Please do not look on this event as an alternative to the lakes.
I have spoken to the organiser and he has pointed out that the car parking is very restricted and although the club welcomes people to its events the event has been organised with the knowledge that a national was on. The numbers of maps printed took this into account so be warned. The loss of a car parking field has further restricted the event capacity and the roads around the area are not suitable for overflow parking. We do not want to upset the locals by inconsiderate parking, so may have to resort to turning people away, which is not in our normal remit.

Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

If advertising events is against "house" rules, so should "de-advertising" them.
The event went off well today: cold but good hilly runnable courses. And there was a field for Car parking and an overflow car park: should you be allowed to dissuade people from going?

Oldman - what is your problem? On the previous Sunday the car parking field was covered in snow - it was unusable and only became usable after a dry week and a brisk easterly wind to dry it out. I was pleasently surprised on the morning of the event to be allowed to use it.
the map situation was also touch and go (and it was going to be my job to rip maps out of Harlequins' hands as they crossed the line if necessary) although I was actually out on my course so long I missed the closing of the start
I think it was right for Hoco to point out the constraints of an event prepared in the knowledge that many people would not be attending - why do you se something wrong in that - or would you have prefered the event to have been a chaotic disaster?

I made the post on behalf of the organiser,as on Friday evening the farmer would not allow use of field and the police were adamant that we had to have adequate parking so as not to upset the locals. As it happened the wind on Saturday dried out the field so we were allowed to use it. We cannot predict our weather accurately so had to be cautious.
