Looking through the fixture listings there are a few times where only a mobile number is given. In view of the cost of calls is this a wise move, particularly for those new to the sport?
There are one or two places where no telephone number is given at all, just the web address. Is this wise?
Or is the technology moving so fast now that everyone will have web access on their mobile, and long winded written instructions in the fixture publications is a waste of time, and unattractive. Might give the opportunity to use more eye-catching features in the leaflets rather than dull text.

I can't imagine anyone would be detered by the additional cost of ringing a mobile. How many calls do organisers get anyway? And yes, it won't be long before some organisers don't bother with leaflets at all.

Would you rather have a mobile number with a good chance of actually talking to the organiser, or a landline number where you could at best only leave messages most of the time?
For four years, I had no landline at all, and I've only got one now for ADSL. My mobile number is still the one I give out to people, and of course has remained the same despite moving house five times in the time I've had it...

Probably not ideal, though I doubt there would be that many people that would be put off enquiring about an event because they have to use email rather than phone. When I first organised an event (c. 9 years ago) the landline number for my shared house was included in the details and got very few calls - most of them on the day before the event asking for late entries when I wasn't even there because I was in the forest setting up! I can't imagine that the balance has swung _towards_ phone enquiries since then.

From recent experience (ie the weekend just gone) nearly all enquiries for late entry were by email.
Several people looked at the website to check it was still on (I posted a notice at 7:45 on the morning of then event to say it was on) but only 3 people phoned...
One strange one is we still have 50 sets of results to post out and had 100 sets of final details to post.
Ie 1/2 of pre entrants forms still wanted final details and start times sent out, and 1/4 wanted results.
The web had more up to date versions of both as new start times were added, and looking at the web stats for sunday night Im sure thats where people go for thier results !
Is it because the standard BOF entry form still says 2 saes or do people really want this info by post ?
Stodgetta hasnt put an SAE in for years now
