thought id use the power of nopesport to find out if there are any recommendations for things to do, places to eat/drink etc etc in dublin. im off tomorrow morning first thing.
any help appreciated, especially for a decent bar, a decent club that doesnt play mingin chart or dance, and maybe somewhere decent to some some irish music. all on the cheap (yes i know its stupidly pricey there) you understand.
cheers in advance

Andy, there's an area called Temple Bar, just on the south side of the river, about half way along the long straight part of the river. I believe part of it is a street called Temple Bar. It's pretty much a few bars and clubs, with the odd touristy Irish shop and internet cafe - more for the younger generation. You will love it.
Hope you have a good trip.

Temple bar in Dublin is great, Covent Garden style street events. The 'Temple Bar'is a great pub as well, live music which is piped through the whole pub so you don't have to choose between being deafened or straining to hear. Not sure what the prices were like tho
I think the whole area was not too cheap.

andy go to the greyhounds in dublin, its bloody great. also, althought its a massive tourist thing, the guiness tour is actually well worth the money.

Everyone goes to the temple bar area and yes its quite good but very expensive. The better places are to be found on the streets just off the temple bar area. don't have specific names unfortunately mate but don't stick to temple bar. Have a good one over there!

I've lived there for the last 3 years. Go to Whelan's on Camden Street for good music and non-pretentious people. Doyle's beside Trinity is good too. Temple Bar is aimed completely at tourists and isn't the best. To eat... Wagamama's near the Stephen's Green Shopping Centre is good; Cornicopia for veggie stuff is good. Captain America's on Grafton Street, not bad.
If you get this before 8:30 tonight there's a gig in the Temple Bar Music Centre by God is an Astronaut and its €15. Sounds like it will be a good one but I've got an exam in the morning! How long are you over for? Gemma Hayes plays Wednesday night in Vicar Street. Also great.
Enjoy it

cheers folks, much appreciated. got some of it, managed some of it, the bulmers got in the way of some of it though. thought about god is an astronaut, but the travelling compnion wouldnt have been into it. went to see broken social scene on sat night though, really amazing (touts all need to die though). stayed out of temple bar proper, its expensive enough as it is. found a few nice wee bars, went to wagamamas, went to some nice italian joint, went to the guiness factory, very good, missed the dogs by falling asleep, had marky boosh stalking me with his better half, wandered round the nice uni buildings, saw the natural history museum (not my idea but actually quite good) the national gallery (modern art gallery was closed) and did a lot of eating and drinking and stuff.
dublin is nice. it was crazy busy though
cheers again everyone.
