I know that our family as orieeering goes is very competitive and i'm certain others are too. This is why at any standard of event, be it district or national, it is much more fun if everybody has the same last control and run in. I appreciate sometimes the planner may want the longer courses to have a harder finish but if we can have it at events like the JK and scottish 6day, why can't any event have it I must say sunday nights in our house are more fun with last leg split comparing sessions/inter family banter going on than studying the map. Its just an idea for people to think about. And does anyone agree with me that this should be put into practise at smaller events
Maybe so but then I have usually run 50% further at a quicker pace [some of the time!]so I should be more knckered and therfore unable to sprint as fast no matter how oddly tall I am
My family is VERY competitive on the run ins too! Every second counts! I can see how close I get to my dad and slag him if I get near! !!! I agree we should all have the same last control to finish! At 6days our club had a run in comp which was great as it made me even more competitive to try and beat not just everyone on my course (w14) but to get near people in my club too!
yeah, the best times are at the jk/british/6 day when our club has a relay competition, they provide much banter! but its always good to be able to compare run-in splits - its the most important part of the course and the only leg i've ever got a top 10 split in at the o-ringen!!
Nah, I was gutted. I only won outright on one day, I was joint once I think and a few joint 2nd/3rds. Still not too bad for a first year on Elite I guess
