Last week youngest mapped a school for some coaching, and I took some photos for photo O. This week we turn up with nice map and courses to find...... School has had a tree planting week, yes added to the 10 or so trees on the map there are about 20 new trees dotted all over the place. As for my photo O, they've had the playground remarked just today and one of my photo subjects no longer exists.
Short term solution - only significant trees mapped, and photo O planned for next week so going to have to make another visit to update photo O stock.

Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

We just had one of our forest maps redone. In case any of you know it, its Donadee map in Co. Kildare.
The old map (jobby) pretty much had tracks and the odd contour detail. The new map (amazing) is deadly accurate, and a please to run on. (Especially when you win by 6 minutes!) Cheers to Pat Healy.

Separated, we fall one by one; united, we fall all at once.

Trossachs was a top quality map when first made for the World Cup in 1988... but it's not really been updated since. The contours could do with a bit of work & there's quite a lot of rock detail missing for a 'modern' map....
Still it's a good place to run... although no where near as difficult or technical as people make out.... there are so many line features it makes it easy to navigate on really.
Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)

Have they changed since 1988?

I'm sure it was 1988.... or around then anyways.... Scottish Champs was held alongside it... Martin Dean was planner..... I planned Scottish Champs courses...

Not quite sure how this ended up in banter ...
but wasn't the word cup the one where Oyvind Thon won by about 10 minutes.
And from memory there's a couple of very tricky patches in the trossachs, but most of the other problems come from trying to avoid climb in what is a pretty physical area, and then losing track of exactly where you are. Still one of my favourite places to train/race in Britain.

That's because somebody took it off topic and decided to discuss orienteering
