British Nights
Well I had a fun time, despite 3 big misses. Thought the courses were well planned (well at least mine was) and good fun, with a nice mix of the open and the forest, and different nav techniques. Lots of path running, but then that's fairly inevitable in an area like that with so many, and also given that at night you want good attack points. My only slight grouch is that my 3rd miss was on the control in the open bit with all the wet ditches just north of a small thicket - I spent a minute or so looking just to the north of a small unmapped thicket 100m to the East which I came to first from my attack point!

British nights
Time for a whinge !
First, thanks to all the bods involved in the organisation and planning - no officials = no event.
However. . . . . . . First we had the Southern Night championships on an area that was way too easy and my course (M45) way too short.
An old git of 47 (me !) should not be able to do less than 6 minute K's ! Granted, I elected not to visit one of the controls (I just didn't see it on the map) but the terrain was a bit of a joke really.
British Nights - Nothing wrong with the area, plenty of opportunity for mistakes. Nevertheless, the last time I looked, the leading time in M45 was 46 minutes. This is simply not acceptable as a winning time in such an event and it wasn't even the result of a squeaky clean run.
As we know, only real men
do Night O and I was tempted to go all the way up for the Northern night champs, but not if I'm unlikely to break sweat !.
Come on people, let's have some pain with our pleasure - keep us out for at least an hour !
