ooh, i was arguing with mum about the polar bear last night actually... yes realms of sadness have been reached but hmm...
i was saying i don't want the monster deely to be some silly mystical thing and so she retorted with the old "polar bear on a tropical island" ... to which i said
"yeah, but, no... er... ooh the big ship thingy, the ship wreck could have been carrying animals that people had stolen for a zoo... and so when the ship was wrecked on the island the animals got free and so there you have a polar bear on a tropical island! Ha!"
so there is my oh-so-eloquent answer to the polar bear question...

Reading the Guardian article makes me realise how much I've missed despite being glued to the box with family, friends and the threat of nuclear war being banned for the duration of each episode.

Can't wait another six months to know all the answers - may just have to head north to superior technology. So Nailest are you saying that because they 'gave back the baby' they got Walt? Hadn't they already left? Was it a question of fewer numbers on the boat to deal with?

Sometimes I don't like being right. Grr.

Wendles: I don't think They were ever interested in turnip-head. "The Boy" they wanted was Walt. He's "special".

I hadn't thought about Pandora's box until he mentioned Hope, but now it seems so obvious. And looking to another religion/mythology, with an episode called "Exodus", and a kid called Aaron, I wonder how long our "Shepherd" is for this world.

But I guess ambiguity allows for multiple interpretations. That whole man of science/man of faith conversation reminded me of something that crossed my mind earlier. Each character could be interpreted as representing a different outlook or philosophy on life, of which John and Jack are the most evident.

And if I knew a little more about political philosophy, there may well be something about the nature of society in there as well. Although with characters called Locke and Rousseau, maybe that's too obvious.

And so to bed. See you all in the spring.

But maybe not. Not so far up North for me Wendles. Just the other side of town, slightly to the south in fact. Is anyone with access to "superior technology" willing to lend me the season 2 eps? Please??
