SI question

Can someone confirm the memory capabilities of SI dibbers. I think it is 30 controls, presumably including start and finish? So if a course has more than 30 controls does that mean that controls over 30 won't register on the card, or just that the e-box won't beep/flash?

The 30 excludes the start and finish. The SI Card will register the fact that it has been to 36 (I think) controls but will not record the times at which the last six were visited - just the control code and order of visiting. Once the SI Card is full the box won't beep/flash.

The newer dibbers can visit more controls.

So with 36 controls you'd still get a finish time, but no splits for 31 - 36?

I should have said that Heather was using a new SI-6 card and therefore had a full set of splits, unlike everyone else.

If you plan a course with 36 controls and someone punches at an extra control from a different course somewhere on the way round (or punches out of sequence then gets back on track), then they won't register at the last control(s). Be wise to leave a little slack and not plan right up to the limit...
