OCAD 9

I see that OCAD 9 is now released (and the last Beta version will expire in Jan).

What do mappers think about the new version. There are still things missing - part 2 maps with numbers not starting from 1 and no provision for score courses - But some of the enhancements look promising.

Big advantage having the new ability to use butterflies - that is allowing the user to visit a control more than once. Agree with the comment that it would be nice to have a Part 2 map not start at conrol 1.

email the OCAD company, tell them, maybe they will make an update if they can be shown that it is a requirement that a lot of course setters want

I have used earlier versions successfully for score courses.

It is easy to print an "all controls" map, and with the added bonus of printing the control codes as well.

Identifying the 'score' for each site, can usually be achieved by sensible allocation of codes: eg codes 410-419 worth 10 points, 420-429 worth 20 points, 430-439 30 points etc. An overprint to that effect can go on the map.
