The discussion in the Micro-O thread got me thinking. How many people would be interested in getting regular text message updates (perhaps 4 or 5) during the course of an event with the top 5 or 6 runners on a chosen course for a small charge (50p per course)? As far as I can tell, this would be reasonably easy to automate.

Or we could get off our arse and go look at the results bored, for free, where we can see every course...

would you pay 50p to find out just the top results of 1 course???

50p was based on the cost of sending 5 messages over the course of a day. Obviously if it was just one update then it would be cheaper. The top 5 was based on the character limit for text messages but I see no reason why you couldn't specify one or more of those 5 (e.g. top 5, or top 3 and two specified runners).
