The point i'm making is that there not saying anything that hasn't been said before. The symbols are issom as mharky said and then a couple of special man made feature -which to be honest anyone in there right mind can make -so i'll say it again you can get issom off the ocad website -and yes its standardised already. From my point of view its just a way for bof to make work that doesn't exist, and its not aservice they are providing -because you can already get the symbols from the ocad website -there i go again.

Agreed. But at least now if I wanted to map a school I'd know which symbols to use. As opposed to getting all confused on OCAD as to which symbol set I should be using. Or, more likely, just asking you which I find is usually the quickest way to solve OCAD issues!

But exactly my point by having all these different sets then its difficult for someone who knows less about the program and resources.
Why didn't bof just say -for schools mapping use the issom symbol set available from ocad.com -and for features such as swings and roundabouts just use your common sense in making a symbol which represents whats on the ground!

One area that I am at odds with the mapping guidelines for schools is for the hardstanding areas. They suggest that all roadways etc are shown as brown 50%, as roads on normal maps. They suggest that no distinction is made then with the playground area.
We draw our maps with the parking area and roadways as normal brown 50%. But the hard concrete/tarmac paths, playground areas, courts etc we show as grey (bare rock screen). We decided to differentiate because we make the car areas out of bounds for the course planning; ie. not allowing the courses to cross them, unless we are severely constrained by them, and then we would man a crossing.... just in case.

Any idea where it's gone, or any idea's how to map...
It's probably gone to the special place which no one can find where many BOF pages now live.
Use the ISSOM symbol set and specification, available on OCAD and the IOF homesites...
