The competition rules only allow you to run for one club per year. So if MF ran for SO at the qualifying round he would not have been able to run for BOK in the final, whether he had joined them or not.

On the subject of people not running for their club, look at Iain Embrey, the club he ran for in the first round weren't in the final so he had to do women's blue non-competitvely, so Simon makes a fair point

I guess both Ed Kellehar and Lawrence Ball are at Warwick Uni as both were members of NOR earlier in the year (but assume did not run for them in rnd 1). Did they join OD just to run in compass sport cup final? I'm not bitter.....

Not entirley true, if you get the club to put in writing that you have offically left you are then able to compete for another club. I believe HOC used this rule to there advantage in the Peter Palmer relays. Typical HOC always "pushing rules to the limit!"

The CSC/T has a specific rule which 'Cup Ties' you - irrespective of whether you have formally transferred club. So, no you could not have competed for BOK. I assume that the PPs do not have a similar rule in place (but have not checked this), and so HOC can have people move to them to compete in that competition.

2.1 Eligibility to run in the Competition is governed by BOF Rule 3.2, except that competitors who change clubs in accordance with BOF Rule 3.2.2, having already competed for one club, may not compete for the second club during the same year.

3.2.1 A competitor shall only compete for the open and/or closed club which they have indicated on their BOF membership form for that year.
3.2.2 Rule 3.2.1 shall only be waived if:
(a) having ceased to compete for the first club, and having obtained written approval from that club, the competitor may then join and compete for a second club, OR
(b) the competitor joins an open club not having previously been a member of a different open club in the current year, OR
(c) the competitor joins a closed club not having previously been a member of a different closed club in the current year.
3.2.3 In the event of a change under Rule 3.2.2, the competitor shall inform BOF Office in writing of their new club before competing for that club.
3.2.4 A competitor may represent an open club and a closed club in the same event provided this is by prior arrangement with the Organiser.

OneOff, all members of UWOC are automatically members of OD. This is also the same for all pupils at my school as well which is why we have lots of people in the shorter courses you have probably never heard of before (especially at the Yvette Baker!).

If Ed and Lawrence are still also members of NOR and competed for NOR at JK 2005 and then OD in CS Cup Final have they not broken BOF rule 3.2 and therefore Compass Sport Cup rule 2.1? As they will have competed for both clubs (OD and NOR) in the same year? Unless of course they have complied with rule 3.2.2(a).

Sorry mate but the rules were followed if you consult the PP rules if you are a club member of a second club which the lads are and have been all year you can run but you need to ask permission of the first club.

Re running for more NOR or OD it maybe the use of the BOF database on entries if a competitor doesn't clearly state they have changed clubs then the club registered on the BOF database comes up. With Uni affiliated clubs this is a problem it was raised when GG first went to Warwick. The student has to decide where their affiliation lies, GG stayed with OD I expect MV may be a second club now. This area needs to be clarified with respect of YBT, CSC and FCC. I don't know if EUOC are affiliated anywhere but I know BUOC are affiliated to HOC.
