Looks like a good set of qualifying sprint results today too. Don't know how many qualify but looks like most of the girls, and a fair few of the lads.

The sprint results are on the world cup site for anyone who's interested. If its 17 to go through again Craney, Ewan, Nick, Heather, Rachael, Pippa, Helen W and Sarah have all qualified.

Does anyone know what NP and PE mean in th results? I'm guessing one is a mis-punch and the other a DNS. Just wondering what happended to GG?

Have just looked at the photos of the sprint. Where could you train in this country for those steps? Can't remember if there are loads up to Edinburgh Castle. Off the top of my head I can't think of any old town settings like that over here most of our old towns are relatively flat cos they were built on the river crossings. I'm sure someone will point me in the direction of somewhere.

Try the area round Lincoln Cathedral. Steep steps called Greestone Stairs and the cobbled road from the High Street up to the Castle and Cathedral called Steep Hill.

Roger Hammond the former World Junior Cyclo-Cross Champion and now a road prfessional cyclist based in Belgium came from Lincoln and used to train on Greestone Stairs. Pretty tough on a bike.

Yesterday was really amazing - started off in a reall technical very green woods - everybody made mistakes in there (i punched the wrong control) then we headed out into the town, descended about 200m into the centre and did two laps of intricate streets and alleyways

apparently today was even trickier with a more compact town section
