I never noticed this before, but why are the times taken up to the last control longer than the total time after the run in on everyones individual time? I looked at my printed splits after seeing this on the results and it is the same!

On the splits for the Individual the first split is too long and the last split too short (by about 1min35secs if I remember correctly). The controls were programmed at a different time to the start&finish controls - so the total times are correct.
(SBOC have two radio controlled clocks that show different times - its true!)

Does Guest want to say how he/she knows that the SI units were programmed incorrectly?
I will ask our SI team about the splits situation and report back. Do not know where Guest got the info on the radio controlled clocks being wrong from, as I checked the clocks at the start and did the call up for the whole of the start period. One clock was on the start line and the other at the entrance to the call up area, both were in sync showing real time, they are satellite clocks and therefore are not manually adjusted, they are always show the correct time. The call up clock was not re-adjusted to be -3 mins (the call up) of real time.
I do not normally reply to "Guest" postings but seeing as he/she was having a whinge at our event I thought I should put the record straight, maybe Guest would like to volunteer to Plan, Organise or Control the next JHI so we can all learn from his/her vast experience!
Maybe we could have some positive postings of how the JHI format could evolve for future events, sprint or micro events ?

I don't think that guest was criticising the event, merely explaining why the split times look strange.
If the start time and finish control have the actual time in them from a radio source, but all the other controls have been programmed from a PC with a clock that is running 2 minutes fast, then when you look at the times on the splits read-out you find that the time you punched the finish control is apparently before that for the final control.
It is not the first event at which this has happened, and it won't be the last.

I know what went wrong because I did it!
I programmed the controls using SBOC's radio controlled clocks on Friday night We have 3 of them and when I programmed them they all had the same time. I checked because I had been told that someone thought they sometimes got out of sync. Two of the clocks were used at the event (at Start I think) and the third was used in the SI van to programme the start and finish units on Saturday morning. However, that clock seemed to get a different time on it. (We confirmed that at the end of the event when we compared the times on all the clocks and on the laptops.) However, as the start and finish controls were programmed together the race times were all correct; it was just the first and last splits that were out on the Saturday. We did the same for the Sunday event but double checked the times and those splits/times are ok.
The problem I think happened because the clocks are in plastic holders and if bumped a bit you can accidentily press a button to take it off radio controlled timing. Another lesson learnt in the joys of SI.
