Isn't it time that Nopesport got rid of the ability to create/reply to a posting as a Guest and therefore remain anonymous? I belong to 2 other forums and you cannot even enter the forum without having a valid login, not even to view postings. If you want to enter the debate etc you have to register and abide by the forums rules and guidelines. Why is Nopesport any different?
Surely it will stop people trashing decent topics by making personal remarks about planners/organisers etc and then the thread is lost by people replying to the personal remarks made and not to the initial topic. I say get rid of the GUEST login and anybody who then abuses the rules and guidelines of the forum gets their account removed by the moderators.

Must say I continually struggle with logging in from work.
I've made 2 entries today (neither abusive or personal I may add) when I thought I'd logged in and both came up as "Guest". This may be a third.
Can anyone give simple instructions to explain what I am doing wrong.

Probably something to do with cookie settings at a guess, and if it's a big company you work for there's probably nothing you can do about it.
Guests - I would say read don't write is appropriate at this stage with Nopesport. The idea of allowing guests to post being (I guess) not to disuade them from posting something useful by making them register. It seems however that this is being abused. That said you need to be able to login at work!

yeah, unless you actually know me in the flesh, it would be surprisingly difficult to get my name.
let the Guests stay - what about all those people curious about the sport? i think it would be beneficial for them to be able to parttake in some of the banter, without the need to create a profile.

i think the guest facility should be kept as people have the right to remain anonymous...however if people misuse (ie things get personal) it then the posts should be moderated/deleted? if you can't be polite then dont post at all.

TriathlonScotland forum has recently changed to insist that everyone uses their real names due to various postings. Slightly different situation (in that they are the governing body of the sport rather than an independent website) but it still seems a bit extreme.

The votes have been cast and counted (no proxy ones missing!). 50 votes cast, 60% (30) against Guest login's being removed and 40% (20) for Guest login's being removed.
So the eyes from the left - No votes have it.
Guest login's remain, so do not complain about people writing crap/libellous/personal attacks etc on orienteers or topics.
